'B' Band Supper Concert
Held in Stanford-in-the-Vale Village Hall, this proved the continuing popularity of the ‘Supper Concert’ format and raised about £800 for the new Bandhall fund. For the ‘B’ Band, conducted by Danny Dullforce, this was their first Concert as a Third Section Band and they amply demonstrated their prowess. The programme included ‘ A Malvern Suite’, one of the most pleasing of Contest pieces, and no fewer than four solo items demonstrating various talents around the Band – from Joanne King on soprano cornet, Jayne Isham on flugel, to Kit Tinker on euphonium (who gave a virtuoso rendition of ‘Grandfather’s Clock) and Chris Wells in a fetching bear suit who wowed the audience with ‘Bare Necessities’
Guest artists were the close harmony group ‘Harlequin’, led by Roger Middlebrook, who delighted the audience with several items – a favourite being ‘The Auctioneer’s Song’.
