Wantage Silver Band

The Wantage Band made its first appearance at a Royal Park Bandstand on Sunday 12th July, playing at the Greenwich Park. A full coach of players and supporters enjoyed good weather and found the park very interesting to visit - although players had to be content with a quick trip around the Observatory and refreshments, before setting up in the Bandstand, where we played from 2 - 5 p.m. The playing was very well received, and a couple of complimentary emails were sent to our website; photographer Roger M Stevens ARPS took many photos and kindly sent them to us. We hope this was the first of many such appearances at these prestigious venues!
 
One of Roger Stevens' many pictures is of conductor Phil Bailey keeping a watchful eye on the cornet section, while the other one here, of that section playing 'Trumpet Blues and Cantabile', was taken by our "resident photographer" Ann Chadwick.
