'A' Band in Blackpool

The 'A' Band eagerly awaited their visit, by invitation, to the prestigious 2009 Spring Festival event in Blackpool's Winter Gardens complex, where many of the country's best bands compete in three simultaneous contests in the various halls - for the Senior Trophy, the Senior Cup and the Grand Shield.

  Entered for the Senior Trophy, WSB were drawn to play 13th of the 20 bands playing Gilbert Vinter's "Spectrum" and to their relief and delight were placed 8th by the judges (the bottom 6 are disqualified from entering the contest again for 3 years).

The band and its 20 travelling supporters celebrated well at their hotel that evening, with local guitar entertainer Ronnie West ably supported by Mark Tribble and Brian Thomas!
