Concert Brass Success

While Wantage Concert Brass was formed deliberately as a "non-contesting" group within the WSB organisation, they decided to support the Oxford and District BB Association's revival of the former annual Entertainment Contest and entered in the "Unregistered" section of this year's contest at Burford School on Sunday 11th October. This was some members' first experience of a band contest and under Alan Sykes' direction they were well pleased to be placed 2nd of the 5 bands competing, for music performance.
To add to that they took first prize in the 'Presentation and Entertainment' category, while young Olivia Middlebrook walked away with the 'Best Soloist' prize, playing 'Summertime' on Soprano Cornet.
