Wantage Silver Band

The Wantage Band presented a Concert 'Magic of the Movies - and More' on Saturday 7th February, in Didcot Civic Hall, the proceeds of which are to be given to Multiple Sclerosis Societies.

The event was organised by band member Eddie Yarker, himself a sufferer of MS, and conducted by Phil Bailey. Despite the snow, a large audience enjoyed a varied concert of movie and show music, with solos from Sam Chapman (cornet) and Eddie Yarker (baritone), while young percussionists Matthew Thomas and Daniel Willis performed a Xylophone duet. Matt Dixon and Ian Davies (euphoniums, pictured above) were 'Laurel and Hardy' playing Sandy Smith's arrangement of "Another Fine Mess"! The other picture shows Phil Bailey taking a final bow, following the band's encore of "Everybody Needs Somebody", featured in the film "The Blues Brothers".
