Wantage 'B' Band

As a new venture to accomodate WSB expansion, 'B' Band was split into two separate parts in January, 2006, incorporating a mix of previous 'B' Band players and several of the more experienced players from Youth Band and improving trainees. One part, the "Contest Band", has retained the 'B' Band title and will concentrate on appropriate contest entries, particularly the annual 3rd Section of the National Championships. This group is conducted by Danny Dullforce, returning to WSB after gaining valuable conducting experience elsewhere. The above picture shows the band celebrating after their recent contest success at Burford (see News).

Danny began playing in the Wantage Band, and has progressed to be a leading euphonium player who has played with many top bands. He also plays tuba in a brass quintet. He showed a talent for conducting at an early age, and for some time was resident conductor of the top section Lydney Band; he now concentrates on the Wantage ‘B’ band, and led them last year to the 4th Section National Finals at Harrogate in September, with promotion to the 3rd section from January 2010.
